Creating Video Presentation on a Smart Phone

For those agencies that don't have access to a laptop/desktop with camera/software with which to make your own 30-Second Elevator Speech, 5-Minute Parking Lot Speech and 30-Minute Speakers Bureau Presentation, here is an alternate solution:

Pull out your smartphone and build your presentations using the capture audio/video mode.

Every smartphone is different, but most provide instant accessible instructions on how to create & save video. Most of you are already sending selfies to your friends/family, so this is no biggie.

There are a couple of things you need to remember when using your smartphone to make your presentations the best quality possible.

1) Anchor your smartphone during recording. There is nothing (NOTHING) that is more annoying than to try to listen to someone trying to give important information and having the video image dancing all over the place. Set your smartphone in a cradle on your desk. Place the cradle high enough up (say, on a stack of heavy books), such that you are not shooting 'up your nostrils' - you don't want to look like Ms. Piggy during your presentation.

2) Smartphones have terrific camera resolution, but we cannot use a video that is oriented with the longest dimension vertically. Make sure you have your smartphone positioned such that its longest dimension is parallel to the top of your desk. Some software packages can auto rotate your video, ours cannot, so we need the video that you send us to be wider than it is tall.

3) Smartphone cameras react well to low light, but make sure you are not recording your videos under candlelight. If we can't see your face, the whole point of video is lost, isn't it? Set up your 'recording studio' next to a bright light source (maybe a big window) shining into your face. Record yourself a little just to see how the different light angles make you look. For instance, bright point source light (like the sun) will show up wrinkles on camera (not that you have this problem!), while flat lighting (overcast cloudy day) will smooth wrinkles out a little. It's kinda interesting, and worth the research.

4) Now the tough part. Every smartphone with a camera can take selfies and save those selfies in several places. One place is right there on your phone. Another is in your 'cloud' area that you have reserved on the internet. And yet another is attached to an outgoing email to yourself (so that you can then store the attachment to your computer's hard drive).

Once you have decided that your video presentations are ready you need to get them to us. The most convenient way is for you to upload your production gems to our dropbox from your computer's hard drive.

Save each of your Presentations in separate files on your hard drive (your phone App HELP will explain how). Then upload the best of each presentation to our dropbox.  Please look for the upload link on the Presentations Page.

Then send us an email that your file(s) has been uploaded:

Video@SeniorConnectionTeamYavapai.com

We can use .mp4 video files, but I can convert just about any format that you send us.

Don't upload videos that are longer than

  • 30-seconds for Elevator Speech,

  • 5-minutes for a Parking Lot Speech or

  • 30-minutes for a Speakers Bureau Presentation.

Please don't upload multiple files of the same subject - instead pick just the one best 30-sec/5-min/30-min presentation to send to us.

This is going to be a hoot!
